Part II My 30 Day Plank Challenge

Holding a plank for 1 minute on Day # 11 of this challenge.

Part II

Today concluded day # 17 which consisted of a 2 minute plank hold. Phew! I cannot believe it is has been a whole 17 days. Down below is the 30 day plank challenge graphic you can use if you would like to participate. You can start whatever day you choose.

I did not feel the need to wait until the end of this newest 30 day challenge to provide an update on how this experience has been for me thus far.

To read about how this all started. Here is the link to my first blog post discussing this challenge:

My Personal Thoughts

I really thought I loved planks! As I write this out, I realize I do love planks however not everyday :)

After day # 1, I thought to myself how in the world will you be able to do a 5 minute plank on the last day. The schedule is perfect and takes care of the natural build up. Completing the 2 minute plank today of course was not a walk in the park but I was able to hold it and not feel as if I could not complete it. The notion of a 5 minute plank is no longer daunting.

Above you can watch day # 11 of my plank challenge on My You Tube Channel.

I find it to be so much more motivating when someone joins me to do a plank. So far I have had only person join me. Thank you Abel :)

What have I been doing?

I have been following the schedule located down below. I have been filming myself since day # 1 for primarily accountability. Also I am a big on documenting. I want to be able to see how I have progressed and grown via video. I have a highlight in my IG stories that displays every single day I have done the challenge.

After I come home from work, I change immediately into my workout clothes, then film whatever day of the challenge I am on. I do not let it build up. I just get it done. Operation get this plank done. Then I post it right up on Instagram. Also when you are fiiming yourself the pressure is on to perform.

Do I notice a change?

I notice that I am able to hold the plank with this natural progression of increased time day in day out.

Primarily I wanted to get better at deadlifts besides of course being patient and practicing. Additional exercises that someone like myself can use to assist with my deadlifts are the plank. Today was lower body day and we did deadlifts today. I would say my form was a lot better. My butt still comes up but that is a work in progress. I will say that the planks are helping me. They are not the only things that have helped me with my form for deadlifts but this has been helpful. It has been worth incorporating into my training.

Will I continue beyond 30 days?

I would of course incorporate planks into my workout regimen but never again for 30 days straight :)

Conclusion

I hope that sharing my personal experience can aide in your own personal journeys as you continue to work on your own personal fitness and nutrition goals.
